This series of resources details aspects of physical child abuse and will be of use to a wide range of professionals in different disciplines who work with young people and their families.
Gang Activity, Youth Violence and Criminal Exploitation Affecting Children This chapter has been updated to describe how organised criminal groups exploit young people and use them to distribute money and illegal drugs along ‘county lines’.
Safeguarding Girls and Young Women at Risk of Abuse through Female Genital Mutilation A link has been added to Safeguarding women and girls at risk of FGM (Practical help to support NHS organisations developing new safeguarding policies and procedures for female genital mutilation (FGM))in the National Guidance section.
Children from Abroad (including Migrant Children and Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children) Section 6, Establishing the Child's Identity and Age has been updated to link to the DfE 2017 Care of unaccompanied and migrant children and child victims of modern slavery – statutory guidance for local authorities. The Modern Slavery Act 2015 is referenced in relation to age assessments.
Information Sharing and Confidentiality A note has been added with regards to the CP-IS project. The Child Protection - Information Sharing project (CP-IS) is helping health and social care staff to share information securely to better protect society's most vulnerable children.
